We've celebrated many Fourth of July holidays with racks of BBQ'd ribs. Daddy cooks the best ribs EVER! This year is no exception. The recipe for the BBQ sauce is on mom's blog, but when Ellie FB'd me for the recipe, I thought it would be fun to post it on my blog - as a reminder that it's a great recipe to have - for cookouts and other events where the grill is involved.
BBQ SAUCE
1 cup beer
1 cup ketchup
½ tsp. Salt
⅓ cup vinegar
⅓ firmly packed cup brown sugar
3 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp. Paprika
½ tsp chili powder
1 med onion, sliced
1 small lemon, peeled and sliced*
Mix all ingredients except onion and lemon; bring to a boil, lower heat, simmer 5 minutes. Add lemon and onion. Simmer additional 2 minutes. *You can substitute lemon juice for fresh lemon if desired.
Enjoy - and Happy Birthday American - the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Thanks, Merc!
