HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY 2009

Today has been a fun day, but also a hard day - on Ross. My Valentine woke me up this morning. I was sleeping blissfully...no dreams, no restlessness...just bliss. Something had a handful of my hair! I opened my eyes to the biggest toothless, no make that one tooth, smile I've ever seen. Cooing, gibber-jabbering, squealing at the top of his lungs - I know he was saying "Get up GiGi. Time to get this party started!" So we did.

Martha Byars and her folks, George and Elizabeth, came over for coffee. Martha's sister, Ann, also dropped by to visit. They're all family so we didn't get too gussied up - we see them often.

Ross was the center of attention - and knew it. He smiled and talked to them, flirting with Ann and Martha the whole time. Definitely his daddy's boy (and Daddy John's and Uncle Richard's!). That was the fun part.

The hard part - Ross has his first tooth and the teething continues. His gums hurt; he doesn't know how to relieve that discomfort, and he gets very frustrated trying. Not only does he get frustrated, those of us that love him are frustrated, too, because you try everything you can think of - very little works. It's all part of the growing process, I know, but knowing doesn't make it easier.

He goes home tomorrow. We'll miss him. The house will seem empty and too quiet. Good thing is...we'll have him again soon. And WE CAN'T WAIT!!
